Traditional Garden Room

Our customer wanted a year-round use building to use as a relaxation space in the garden, so they opted for a Cley Summerhouse measuring 2.4 x 3.0m, with the idea to turn into an additional living space where they could sip on gin and tonics in the summer and curl up with a good book in the winter.

The Cley Summerhouse is a traditional garden room that has a classically elegant design featuring a hipped roof. It has a set of double doors with a single fixed window placed on either side to the front of the building and usually, it would have a double opening window set installed on either side. As all of our garden buildings are hand-crafted to order, the designs can be tailored to suit your needs, including the placement of your doors and windows. To best suit the placement of the building in their garden, our customer has opted to have two double opening window sets in the back wall, with just the right-hand side of the building featuring a double window set. While deciding on the placement of their doors and windows, our customer opted to have them fitted with Georgian bars to add more style to their traditional garden room.

Inside, our customer has made this hipped garden room their own by adding a couple of armchairs, tables and a shelving unit. They have also added subtle pops of pink with the cushions and the candles, which stand out against the matchboard and the natural lacquered floor.

The walls and ceiling of our Cley Summerhouse are insulated and lined as standard so the building can be used throughout the year. For further comfort, our customer has installed their own heater, but if you would prefer to have your insulated garden room supplied with this, we are able to add a heater and electrics during installation. We can also add insulation in the floor and double glazing for further comfort.

This insulated garden room is lined with natural matchboard as standard, but for an alternative look, you can upgrade to painted matchboard, either in our Internal Ivory or your choice from eight Farrow & Ball interior colours. Our customer opted to have both the walls and ceiling of their traditional garden room lined with Ivory painted matchboard which gives it a bright and clean finish inside.

When it comes to the decoration of your own garden room, you can have both the walls and ceiling painted the same colour like our customer, or you may want to have the walls lined with painted matchboard with the ceiling left natural, or you can choose two Farrow & Ball colours to have a contrast between the walls and ceiling.

While our customer didn’t opt for Farrow & Ball paints inside, they did choose two of them from the exterior range to finish their building in a two-tone fashion. The main colour of this traditional garden room is Farrow & Ball Old White, with Farrow & Ball Pointing chosen to highlight the door and window frames. Other features selected by our customer include grey slate effect roof tiles and rustic-style weatherboard cladding.
