Our customer, a ceramics artist from Nottinghamshire, bought one of our Superior Sheds with a view to turn it into a creative space where they could work on creating unique pottery and silverwork pieces for their online ceramics and jewellery business.
They opted for a Superior Shed measuring 3.6 x 3.0m (12 x 10ft) with an internal height of 1.85m, this was to make sure there was ample space inside to work while also making sure the overall height of the building was less than 2.5m to comply with permitted development regulations. The shed our customer has chosen for their pottery shed to have an apex roof design with a single door and two windows to the front of the building and a triple window set in the side. Each window set has one opening window and all the windows are made using 4mm toughened safety glass. The shed is shiplap clad and treated with a Sikkens wood stain in the colour Walnut, which will help to protect the timber. The Sikkens wood stains allow the grain of the wood to be seen through while also achieving a high colour pay off.
To make sure the building is suitable for use throughout the year, our customer has added full internal oak-faced ply lining and insulation to her pottery shed as extra. The Superior Shed has had an electric pack added, which is another one of the optional add-ons we offer to our customers. This allowed the building to be supplied with both lighting and power inside. This customer has also opted to have one of our 900mm tall and 600mm deep oak faced ply workbenches installed, giving them a strong and sturdy workspace to practise their craft.
Another feature our customer has chosen for their pottery shed is our security pack. Our security pack consists of stainless steel bars mortised into the window frames, non-returnable security screws in the door hinges that are impossible to unscrew, and a heavy-duty 7 lever lock that is anti-sawing, anti-picking, anti-prising and anti-cropping. All of these will help to keep the shed secure and add extra protection to the works that are stored inside.
After installation, our customer has added a shelving unit to display some of their completed ceramic pieces, as well as additional storage underneath the workbench to hold all their supplies. The biggest item for turning this Superior Shed into a pottery shed is the kiln that will turn the clay works into pottery masterpieces. It has been installed on concrete slabs in the corner of the room to protect the floor from heat.
Our pottery sheds are available in a variety of sizes, with many different optional extras, such as paint colours and roof coverings, to choose from to make it your own.
