A customer in Guildford, Surrey, who is an experienced hairdresser with a passion for her trade, has had one of our classical and contemporary Burnham Studio installed. She had a vision of it turning it into a stylish salon that would allow her to work from home with ease.
She opted for a Burnham that is 4.8 x 4.8m size with grey slate effect tiles on the roof and a smooth shiplap clad exterior painted in the colour Ivory from our exterior paint system. One of the main design features of our Burnham Studio is the fully glazed front elevation which will allow plenty of natural light inside the salon and give it a light and airy feel. As there will be a lot of appliances giving off heat inside the salon, our customer has opted to have a Velux window installed in the roof as extra, which will also help with the airflow inside the building.
To turn this Studio into a fully functioning hair salon, it needed to be suitable for year-round use. The Burnham comes fully lined, insulated, and double glazed as standard, ensuring it is comfortable inside whatever the weather. Another thing that is essential for a fully functioning hair salon is electricity so that appliances such as a hairdryer and straighteners can be used. With this in mind, our customer chose to add an electric pack as extra with four additional double sockets
With any of our buildings, careful consideration and discussion are had over exactly what features are needed. Our customer wanted to add herself a toilet and small kitchen area after installation so opted to add a partition to the design of her Burnham Studio. The partition requirements were discussed and happily met by our CAD team who drew up the manufacturing plans and got the ball rolling on our customer’s dream building. While we at Crane do not offer plumbing services with any of our buildings, we can design them based on what you wish to later add, i.e a partition wall for a bathroom.
After installation, our customer has made the best possible use of her space in the studio by adding shelves to the Ivory painted matchboard walls and other storage solutions for housing all the hair products she uses in the salon. She even has a sitting area to keep any waiting clients comfortable. Other features include the light and airy curtains lining the floor-to-ceiling glass panels. All of these really display just how much difference small additions can make in the process of personalising your building.
