2019 has been another amazing year for us, with lots of lovely buildings being installed for lots of lovely customers. From the highlands of Scotland and the Heritage Coast in Wales to the likes of Cornwall and Devon, our installations team have travelled up and down Mainland UK, delivering and assembling these buildings in many beautiful locations, including the gorgeous gardens at the homes of customers.
There have been so many incredible installations this year that we were hard pressed to pick our favourites. After much deliberation here at our HQ, we’ve put together a list of our most memorable installations of 2019.
Coastal Cley
The photo of this Cley Summerhouse really speaks for itself, just take a look at that view! It was installed overlooking the Cornish coast for a customer who wanted a summerhouse where they could dry off and relax after taking a dip in their swimming pool.
The customer picked Georgian windows over leaded and they also chose to have the exterior painted in the colour Old White from the Farrow & Ball paint system, which is complemented beautifully by the cedar shingles laid on the roof.
The walls and ceiling of our Cley Summerhouses come lined and insulated as standard, and our customer also had an electric pack added, making the building suitable for use throughout the year.
Salthouse turned Yoga Studio
This stunning Salthouse was installed for a customer in Hampshire, whose vision it was to turn it into a tranquil and relaxing Yoga shack where they could teach one-on-one classes from.
The customer selected our Salthouse Studio for its modern design that includes a pent roof and shiplap cladding as standard features. Our customer also liked that the building has fully glazed floor-to-ceiling glass panels across the entirety of the front side, allowing an abundance of natural light inside to create the soothing and calming atmosphere required for Yoga.
In the months after installation, our customer added pegs for bags and jackets and shelving for storing mats to help transform the studio in a space of their own.
Our Chelsea Buildings
We couldn’t do a rundown of our most memorable buildings of this year without mentioning the Signature Garden Room and Superior Shed from our RHS Chelsea Flower Show stand! Months of planning and lots of hard work on behalf of our CAD engineers, skilled craftsmen, and installations team, go into our Chelsea buildings, so there was no debate as to whether they should make our list.
This year’s buildings were designed to have a classic and timeless look, with rustic-style weatherboard cladding, grey slate effect roof tiles and Georgian windows adding to the charm. They were both painted in a two-tone fashion using the Farrow & Ball shades of Light Gray and Old White, carefully selected for their soft, neutral colourings.
These buildings, combined with the woodland walk themed garden, earned us another 5-star Trade Stand award for the sixth consecutive year.
Superior Shed turned Pottery Shed
This Superior Shed was installed back in April for a customer in need of a practical yet comfortable space where they could work on creating one-of-a-kind pottery and silverwork pieces for their online ceramics and jewellery business. The building was bought for year-round use, so it was fully lined and insulated to ensure it’s comfortable inside, even during the winter months. Our customer also opted to have electrics and one of our oak faced plywood workbenches installed to make sure that it was fit for purpose.
After we installed the shed, our customer added their own shelving unit to showcase their work on, and they also moved their pottery kiln into the corner of the building to create their fully functioning pottery shed.
Custom-made Pavilion Garden Room
Our last memorable building is a fairly recently installation as it was delivered and assembled at the beginning of October. It’s a Pavilion Garden Room, installed for a care home in Cambridge, to be used as a sensory room for dementia patients in their care.
As many of the residents use a wheelchair to get around, the care home required a building that they could easily get their patients in and out of. To aid with this, we provided them with a custom-made Garden Room, designed without the pickets in the fence that usually come as standard on this building, allowing unrestricted access to the decked area. It will also mean that come summertime, residents will be able to sit in their wheelchairs outside and enjoy the sunshine under the shaded veranda.
Our Pavilion Garden Room comes with standard features such as full insulation, matchboard lining and an electric pack with heater, which will ensure that the residents will be able to benefit from using the building in every season.
The Sheds, Summerhouses, Studios and Garden Rooms mentioned above are a few of our favourites from 2019, showcasing just some of the different types of buildings, design options and extra features we offer. As all of our garden buildings are designed and hand-made to order in our Norfolk factory, we are able to create you a tailor-made building that meets all of your personal requirements and style preferences.
If any of these buildings have caught your eye, or you would like to see what else we offer in our vast range, you can take a look at our full collection here.
We’re already looking forward to seeing which of our customers’ beautiful buildings make next year’s list!
