A popular choice for those who want more living space for working or hobbies, garden office pods are becoming a more prevalent feature of the family home. Stylish, practical and a fail-safe investment in both your property and your lifestyle, an office pod will revolutionise the way you work, relax and enjoy your home. With more than 50 years of experience crafting bespoke garden buildings for customers based throughout the UK, we offer a range of styles that have been designed with enjoyment, practicality and aesthetics in mind.

What are garden office pods?

Garden office pods, also known as garden studios or garden offices, are small, standalone structures typically installed in the outdoor space of your property. They provide a separate, quiet workspace away from the distractions of the main house, offering an ideal solution for those who work remotely, run a small business from home or just want a quiet space to relax or pursue a hobby.

Why have a garden office pod?

Garden office pods have many perks that can generally make your life easier, and your work life more productive. Investing in a garden office pod will improve your work-life balance by creating a dedicated workspace separate from the main house, reducing commuting time and expenses, and increasing productivity due to fewer distractions. They also add value to the property and can be repurposed for other uses such as a gym, or hobby space.

Our office pods are designed to serve as fully functional workspaces, equipped with amenities such as electricity and heating and offering bespoke interior layout features such as storage partitions, extra windows and extra doors. Once installed atop a level, flat base, the office pod will be ready to furnish with the required accoutrements and other items that are necessary for your intended use.

Benefits of a garden office pod

A distraction-free, customised workspace

If you plan to use your garden pod as an office, the main benefit will be that you now have a completely customised space away from the many distractions of the house. Not only does this mean you’ll be more productive during working hours, it will also mean you’ll be more relaxed during your downtime thanks to the improved physical boundaries between work and personal life.

Increased property value

Investing in an attractive, well-made garden office pod that complements your surroundings can have a substantial impact on the overall value and appeal of your property. When it comes to real estate, any garden building will extend the footprint of the house, add a unique and multifunctional asset to the outdoor space and may even motivate potential buyers.

Future-proof and versatile

One of the major appeals of a garden pod is their flexibility, offering homeowners a dynamic and versatile space that can adapt to ever-changing needs and preferences. This adaptability is a key factor that elevates these structures beyond mere functional additions, transforming them into invaluable assets within a property. One day it will be a space where you work, before being transformed into a space to host guests, or a playroom for any little ones that might come along in the future.

More time ‘in’ nature

It’s no secret that spending time outdoors is good for us, and having a garden office will enable you to do this. Choose an office pod with floor-to-ceiling windows to admire the views of your natural surroundings (and give your eyes an essential break from the screen) and opt for double doors that you can pin open during the summer months. You can also add things like Velux windows to really let the natural light in.

Our garden office pod features & considerations

Lined & Insulated

It is essential that your office pod is comfortable to work in throughout the year, which is why each of our models is lined and insulated. Not only will the insulation provide warmth and comfort throughout the changing seasons but it will also regulate the interior temperature and help to prevent mould. The finishing touch is our range of different paint colours for your interior lining, which will help customise your space even further.

Range of Styles

Whether you’re searching for a sleek and modern garden office pod, or one that will work well within your traditional country garden, our extensive collection is bound to offer your ideal solution. We handcraft garden buildings in a range of different styles to suit your different needs and personal preferences.

Customisable

You’ll make all of the design decisions, from what roof covering you’d prefer to the perfect shade of your interior lining. Should you wish to, you can customise your bespoke office pod with things like interior partition walls, heating, Velux windows and, where applicable, an exterior veranda.

Quick & Easy Installation

With Crane, we will work with you from the very beginning through to the final installation. FAQ

Any investment into your property is worth the money, and adding a garden building will also improve your working and home life, which is something you can’t put a price on.

In most cases, planning permission is not required for garden pod, as they fall under ‘permitted development’. However, there may be certain size and location conditions to meet. If you would like to speak to one of our knowledgeable team about planning permission, please get in touch. In the meantime, take a look at our guide to planning permission.

Of course! A lot of garden pods are purpose-built for that exact use. They provide a quiet, dedicated space away from the distractions of the main house, immersed in the nature of your garden.

Our garden office pods come in various sizes to suit different outdoor spaces and user needs. Our team can work with you to find a size that fits perfectly in your garden, to find out more get in touch

Some of our garden office pod models are lined and insulated as standard, whereas it is an optional extra on others. If you would like to know more about our insulated models and what they include please get in touch with our designers.

Depending on the options you choose we can supply a garden pod with double glazing, insulation and electrics to help you enjoy your building no matter the weather outside.

We can provide an electrical pack extra on our garden buildings, so we can set everything up to run off electricity. You will just need to arrange the final connection to the house yourself.

The installation time can vary based on the size and complexity of your garden building. So it could take anywhere from half a day to five days to install. Five days would be for our larger, fully-lined and insulated buildings.

Our garden buildings are built with robust materials and can be equipped with secure locks to provide safety and security.

Compared to traditional home extensions or loft conversions, a bespoke garden office pod often represents a cost-effective and less disruptive solution to gaining extra space. It’s also arguably a better option for working as it is removed from the distractions of the main home. However, costs can vary based on size, materials and customisation.
