Are you seeking WFH inspiration that doesn’t involve your dining room table and getting distracted by piles of laundry? That’s exactly why a recent customer worked with us to design this stunning 12 x 20ft Morston Summerhouse, intending to use it as a garden office with a versatile garden storage area in the back of the building. Selected from our range of lifestyle garden buildings, the summerhouse was designed and handcrafted at our Norfolk HQ using FSC© certified Scandinavian redwood, which is known for its superior quality and slow growth.
The building is named after Morston village, which is local to our HQ and known for its sprawling salt marsh, sailing boats and quaint coastal appeal. Not only does it make a practical office, but it is also a stunning space to enjoy during downtime too. The exterior design of this building features an apex roof, which is clad with our torched-on, heavy-duty roofing felt. The customer opted to add black guttering, which will further protect the building from wet weather. Measuring 3.6 x 6.0m overall, the summerhouse also features a 1.2m covered veranda, which means the customer can throw the double doors and windows open for fresh air whatever the weather. All four windows can be opened, and each is double-glazed. The storage area, which can be used as an alternative to a garden shed or simply a place to stow away unsightly possessions, is accessed via a separate shed-style door at the rear, which cleverly hides the section completely. While this customer did not request it, it is possible to also add an access door to the storage area from within the building.
For year-round comfort indoors, the summerhouse is entirely insulated and lined. Our customer chose to add the electrical pack option with a wall-mounted heater, which comprises four internal double sockets, spotlights, an eight-way consumer unit and an external socket with exterior lighting. In this case, our customers requested to add their own choice of lighting, which was not an issue and allowed them to tailor their garden office to their requirements.
