2020 has been an unprecedented year for us, as it has been for everyone up and down the country. For the first time in our almost 50-year history, we had to bring our installations team home for the country-wide lockdown and close our show centres and factory.
We were fortunate to be able to open again in May, and since then we have had to adapt to new ways of working, with COVID-secure deliveries, social distancing in our factory and show centres, and office staff working from home for the first time.
This year has required a big team effort from everyone at Crane, which we are incredibly grateful for, and despite the challenges, we have still managed to deliver and install many lovely buildings in beautiful gardens for our customers. So, after much deliberation, here are our top 10 garden building installations of 2020.
Holt Studio
We installed this building back in January. It was very exciting for us as it was the first of three new buildings that we introduced to our range in 2020.
The Holt is a stylish, ultra-modern studio with a sleek pent roof and small veranda, connected by two exterior walls that we have named “Cheeks”. It also features two walls of floor-to-ceiling glazing and comes fully lined and insulated to make it suitable for year-round use.
Since this building was installed, we have sold many to customers across the country, and we cannot wait to see more Holts next year.
Burnham Studio
We liked the look of this Burnham Studio as soon as we saw the photos from our fitters, but we loved it even more once our customer sent us some photos of how they had furnished it.
This Ash-painted 2.4 x 4.2m Burnham sits proudly in our customer’s tiered garden, and thanks to the studio’s fully glazed front elevation, our customer can sit inside and relax while admiring the view of the stunning countryside that surrounds them.
Classic Office
We added the Classic Office to our range back in June, designed to allow 1-2 people to work from home inside it.
This 2.4 x 3.0m outdoor office is fully lined, insulated, and double glazed to provide year-round comfort. It has solid pine, horizontal matchboarding for the internal lining, and the window is top hung, giving the Classic Office a unique look compared to our other buildings.
This Classic Office is painted in Smoke, which is one of the 4 new colours we have added to our Classic Paint System this year.
Greenhouse
This Greenhouse was one of the first buildings we installed after lockdown, and what a lovely one to start with!
It measures 1.8 x 2.4m, which may be small in size, but it is the perfect fit for this flourishing garden. Our customer chose to have it painted in Sage, which we are sure you will agree, blends in with the surrounding greenery in our customer’s garden beautifully.
Classic Summerhouse
The third and final building we introduced to our range this year was the Classic Summerhouse.
This simple, octagonal garden building is painted in Seagrass and it was installed at our Norfolk show centre back in the summer. It is designed for use during the summer months, making it an ideal fair-weather garden retreat. It has windows in four out of its eight sides, as well as in the double doors, allowing you to relax inside and enjoy views of your garden from many angles.
While the interior of this unlined building comes unpainted as standard, we offer the option on the Classic Summerhouse to have the interior painted in the same colour as the exterior to offer a more homely feel inside.
Morston Summerhouse
This photo of a Morston Summerhouse was sent to us after installation by our customer, and we love how it looks in their garden.
It has a bright and clean look with an Ivory painted exterior and grey slate effect tiles on the roof. Our Morston comes unlined as standard, but to turn it into a year-round use retreat, our customer has opted to have the walls and ceiling lined and insulated.
Superior Shed
This lovely little pent roof Superior Shed is used by our customer for storage purposes and it is a great example of how our garden buildings can work in a smaller garden.
Measuring 1.8 x 3.0m, it is painted all over in the colour Slate from our Exterior Paint System and the windows are highlighted in Pebble, matching perfectly with the shingle and paving slabs laid in our customer’s garden.
Pavilion Garden Room
Our buildings are used for a variety of different reasons, so when we heard this Pavilion Garden Room was going to be used as a piano room, it definitely piqued our interest.
Our Pavilion comes fully lined, insulated, and double glazed as standard, ensuring our customer can play the piano inside their building comfortably throughout the year. To make it further equipped for use as a piano room, we have installed special sound-absorbing insulation as extra.
Our customer opted to have the weatherboard clad exterior painted in Farrow & Ball Card Room Green, allowing the building to blend beautifully in their garden, and the doors, window frames and picket fence are painted in Farrow & Ball Pointing.
Salthouse Studio
This Salthouse Studio was installed for our customer to transform into a Pilates studio, and we could not think of a better building for it.
It comes with a fully glazed front elevation, but our customer has had the design of our Salthouse tailored to their needs with an additional double door and glass panel to the left-hand side of the building, and two further floor-to-ceiling glass panels installed in the back wall.
All of the glazing on this building will allow plenty of natural light inside and it will also mean that our customer can enjoy the views of their gorgeous garden while exercising.
Garden Room
We just had to include this picture of this 3.6 x 6.0m Garden Room on our list; just look at the lovely garden it was installed in!
The design of this Garden Room includes glazed double doors, and two double window sets in the front, with an additional double window set on either side, allowing our customer to see out to their magnificent garden while they relax inside. The exterior is painted in Farrow & Ball French Gray, which is a lovely neutral-toned shade that makes the colour of the flowers in front of the Garden Room stand out.
The above garden buildings are just a few of the different styles we offer. We have a vast array of buildings in our range and they can be tailored to your specification as we design and hand-make them all to order. You can choose from many different sizes, exterior and interior decoration options, and extra features to make your building the one you have been dreaming of.
